Van Fletcher
Chairman
Many of you know this gentleman, but for those who don’t, we want to introduce the Chairman of the Board, Van Fletcher. Van and his wife Lisa of 33 years have three grown children and are members of Clayton Baptist Church. Van has retired from a career in commercial real estate. His company specialized in developing health-care facilities in the southeast.
Van and Lisa both grew up in Christian homes in small towns similar to Clayton. They realize how a stable environment is so important in a child’s life. This fact has given them a passion to support foster- care ministries. In April of 2020, Van became an integral part of Place of Hope. The motivation for his commitment is a motto which has guided his ministries: “Faith and Service”. He lives his life by these words. This ministry gives him an opportunity to utilize his gifts in practical service. He believes that being able to support these is not just a caring ministry, but a Biblical one. James 1: 27b admonishes us to visit orphans in their distress. He not only believes this, but believes that the protection of vulnerable children is God’s desire.
Van’s vision for POH is that in a year’s time, it has had an impact on every foster child in Rabun County. In five years, he believes that POH will become a regional ministry. An organization is only as good as its vision, and this one is a beauty!
